Vision, Mission, Ethics & Values

Vision

The Moorlands Community Charity has grown significantly in its first twenty years and over the next five years we will be widening our services so we meet the needs of all people, young and old, in our communities.  However, to succeed will require a different business model, starting with a new community hub, from which there will be spokes for outlying services in the rural communities.  Our current Net Promotor Score for the charity as a whole is 51.  We wish to improve on this score by 2 points per year over the next five years.

Mission

Our vision remains steadfastly to alleviate poverty, inspire learning, create volunteering opportunities and empower communities through social and recreational activities to achieve immediate and lasting change.

Ethics & Values

Our Core Ethics and Values are inherent to the effectiveness of our services.  The charity has a duty to ensure as far as possible that all who work or volunteer with us discharge their ethical obligations and are afforded the freedoms necessary for the safeguarding and promotion of the rights of people who access our services. People accessing the charities services may be individuals (children, young people or adults), families or other groups or communities & we strive to provide early intervention in a bid to minimise impact & increase the cost effectiveness of our services.

Ethical awareness is fundamental to the practice of all our staff. Their ability and commitment to act ethically is an essential aspect of the quality of our services offered to those who engage us. Respect for human rights and a commitment to promoting social justice are at the core of our services.

Upholding and promoting human dignity and well-being

Staff, Trustees and volunteers will respect, uphold and defend each person’s physical, psychological, emotional and spiritual integrity and well-being. We work towards promoting the best interests of individuals and groups in society.

Respecting the right of self- determination

Staff, Trustees and volunteers will respect, promote and support people’s dignity and right to make their own choices and decisions, irrespective of their values and life choices, provided this does not threaten the rights, safety and legitimate interests of others.

Promoting the right to participation

We will promote the full involvement and participation of people using our services in ways that enable them to be empowered in all aspects of decisions and actions affecting their lives.

Treating each person as a whole

We are concerned with the whole person, within the family, community, societal and natural environments, and will seek to recognise all aspects of a person’s life.

Identifying and developing strengths

We will focus on the strengths of all individuals, groups and communities and thus promote their empowerment.
